The queen's bedroom at Versailles, which featured a not-so-secret passage to the king's
bedroom. Interestingly having lots of people in the bedroom would not have been unusual
during the reign of the monarchy. When the king and queen went to sleep and when they
arose it was publicly witnessed. When they arose they generally went to a chamber pot and did
what most people everywhere do shortly after they arise, and it was considered a great honor
to witness this. When the queen gave birth this was also publicly witnessed. This is because
only a male child could inherit the throne, so other possible successors needed to be sure that
a male child had not been switched for a female one.
