(Goldenes Dachl) is where the Emperor Maximilian I would address his subjects. He based his power on three
things his region could produce and other regions needed: silver, salt and weapons. In a era when every
minor ruler minted his own coins, Maximilian's silver coins became widely recognized and were given the
same value as gold coins because they were trusted. This shot was taken from the old clock tower (below),
which looks a lot shorter from the town square below than it feels when you are climbing the steps to the top.
Although in the States "onion domes" are associated with eastern religions, such as Greek and Russian
Orthodox, the domes are almost universal throughout Catholic Austria.
